Limonite - Wikipedia

Limonite (/ ˈ l aɪ m ə n aɪ t /) is an iron ore consisting of a mixture of hydrated iron(III) oxide-hydroxides in varying composition. The generic formula is frequently written as FeO(OH)· n H 2 O, although this is not entirely accurate as the ratio of oxide to hydroxide can vary quite widely. Limonite is one of the three principal iron ores, the others being hematite and magnetite, and .

Summary and final report on pyrite, magnetite and hematite .

The project aim was to analyse the mineral chemistry of pyrite, hematite and magnetite across a range of deposit styles in SA, and determine whether the technique could be used to provide insights into, and vector within, the various mineral systems. Pyrite analyses showed discernible trends for individual mineralisation types.

Sphalerite with Pyrite and Galena (#90) | Geology .

Sphalerite is mined for zinc, and galena is mined for lead. Although you might think that pyrite should be mined for iron, the "Learn More" for specimen #73 explains why we don't mine pyrite for iron. The similarity in the formulas of sphalerite and galena might cause you to think their atoms should be arranged in much the same way. Not so.

Hematite - Mineral and Healing Properties

Hematite helps to absorb negative energy and calms you in times of stress or worry. Hematite is a very protective stone, and is great to carry to help you stay grounded in many situations. Hematite can boost confidence, and is also good for working with the Root Chakra.

Hematite | Geology Page

Hematite is a mineral, colored black to steel or silver-gray, brown to reddish brown, or red. It is mined as the main ore of iron. Varieties include kidney ore, martite (pseudomorphs after magnetite), iron rose and specularite (specular hematite). While the forms of hematite vary, they all have a rust-red streak.

Hematite is an iron oxide mineral which is technically made up of 70% iron and 30% oxygen (though rarely found that pure). Its usual appearance is a silver to dark gray, smooth gemstone cut into variously shaped cabochons and very rarely faceted.

Re: Pyrite scepters?

Apr 25, 2020 · I think this all comes down to your definition of scepter. These look more to me like pyrite on hematite - and some are pyrite on pyrite (secondary growth with slightly different crystal habits). I guess these to me are not scepters in the "quartz sense" but I also will defer to more experienced members. Pyrite does amazing things - see this link:

Highly Efficient Antimonate Removal from Water by Pyrite .

Pyrite/hematite bi-mineral (FeS2/α-Fe2O3) was obtained by thermal modification of pyrite. FeS2/α-Fe2O3 was investigated and developed as a promising adsorbent for antimonate [Sb(V)] removal. The influence of initial concentration, temperature, initial pH, contact time, and coexisting anions on Sb(V) adsorption performance of FeS2/α-Fe2O3 was investigated.
